Kaya was born and raised in Northern Wisconsin. In 2016, she moved to the Florida Panhandle, where she works as a marketing manager and freelance writer. Kaya has articles published in The Huffington Post, Yahoo News, and several other media outlets. She received a BA with a double major in Political Science and International Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, where she was the editor-in-chief for the diversity newsletter and campus blog.

Irum, a fellow blogger for Verona, a writer, photographer, and author of 'Nothing to Summit' - a collection of short essays on gaining strength, fighting against one's fears, falling, regaining hope, and ultimately finding inner peace before the cycle/climb begins again. She received her Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Michigan State University and is currently dabbling in several photojournalism and writing projects, while also working as a communications specialist.

LaRita Dixon was born and raised in the south. She said she’s been called “A Woman of Many talents” for various reasons. She makes soap, she paints, she can also knit and crochet. She started writing about two years ago. She recently published her first novelLittle Bird,a story about a 12-year-old Syrian refugee living in the United States.Though it is fiction, it’s also a very personal story to Dixon. As a black, Muslim woman in a hijab, Dixon knows first-hand how it feels to be a victim of prejudice and hateful speech.

#4 Aya Khalil (@ayakhalilauthor)

Aya Khalil holds a master's degree in Education and is a freelance journalist. Her debut picture book, The Arabic Quilt, is coming out in 2020. The book is based on real events growing up as an immigrant in a public school in a small town. The main character, Kanzi, is embarrassed of her mother's native language (Arabic), but learns to appreciate it with the help of her teacher and classmates. She is working on another picture book. Aya lives in Ohio with her husband and three children. 

#5 Rumki Chowhury (@rumkic)

Rumki is a published author of two books and a published poet of one of her own original anthologies. Her first book is "Her Feet Chime," the first and only Bangladeshi version of a Cinderella story written in English. It is a novella that gained excellent criticism especially in London. Her second book is a women's fiction/romance with a comic twist entitled "So Complicated." It surrounds the rivalry between a masculinist and a feminist who are coerced by circumstances to team up! "So Complicated" was a finalist in The Pacific Writer ́s Awards Humor Section, Runner-Up for UK´s Wishing Shelf Awards and Honorable Mention at the New York Book Festival.

Aminah Mae Safi is a Muslim-American writer who explores art, fiction, feminism, and film. She loves Sofia Coppola movies, Bollywood endings, and the Fast and Furious franchise. She’s the winner of the We Need Diverse Books short story contest. Originally raised in Texas, she now lives in Los Angeles, California, with her partner, a cat bent on world domination, and another cat who’s just here for the snacks. She is the author of NOT THE GIRLS YOU'RE LOOKING FOR , TELL ME HOW YOU REALLY FEEL, and the forthcoming THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT (Summer 2020).

#7 Uzma Jalauddin (@uzmajalauddin)

Uzma Jalaluddin is the author of AYESHA AT LAST, a revampedPride and Prejudice set in a close-knit Toronto Muslim community. The book has earned starred reviews from Publishers Weekly, Booklist, Library Journal and Kirkus. AYESHA AT LAST was named the 2019Cosmopolitan UK Book of the Year, long-listed for the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour (Canada) and the Toronto Book Awards, and short-listed for the Kobo Emerging Writer Award. It was also named among the 100 Favourite Books of 2018 fromThe Globe and Mail.

K. Ali is the author of Saints and Misfits, a 2018 William C. Morris finalist. She lives in Toronto with her family, which includes a very vocal cat named Yeti.She holds a degree in Creative Writing from York University and has written about Muslim life for various outlets, including the Toronto Star and NBC News. Her second novel,Love From A to Z, a story about finding love in the time of Islamophobia, will be published on April 30, 2019 by Simon & Schuster. She also has a picture book,The Proudest Blue, co-authored with Ibtihaj Muhammad, releasing in the fall of 2019, published by Little, Brown and Co. S. K. Ali lives in

#9 Manal Wazeer (@manalwazeer)

Manal, author ofResilient Rida and the Cochlear Implant, grew up in a tiny town called Ruwais in the U.A.E , where books were scarce. She pursued her undergraduate degree in India to become a speech-language pathologist and an audiologist. She then moved to Sri Lanka, to work in a clinic that helped children and adults who were hard of hearing. She then moved to Canada to pursue a master’s degree in speech-language pathology at the University of Western Ontario.
